Proper steps of using  Electric Double Breast Pump (BT-100)

1. Read the instruction manual and familiarize yourself with your model (BT-100).
2. Wash your hands and make sure all parts of the breast pump are clean.
3. Find a private place where you feel relaxed and think about your baby as this will trigger the hormones that help release the breast milk.
4. Place the assembled breast shields on your breasts and hold the shields. Do not hold the attached bottles so that you can adjust them as needed.
5. The suction can be damaging if the placement if off. Thus, make sure the shields are centered over the nipples.
6. Turn the machine on.
7. Milk will usually start to flow within two minutes. Vary the speed so that it’s inconsistent, similar to the sucking motions of a baby.
8. Find a speed that is comfortable and efficient. Pumping should never be painful.
9. Continue thinking about your baby, listening to music, checking e-mail, or engaging in other distracting activities. For some women, staring at the bottles can actually impede milk flow.
10. Turn off the pump when milk flow has slowed down and about to finish.
11. Remove the breast shields and then carefully unscrew the bottles and put caps on them.
12. With warm, soapy water, wash any pieces that touched your body and/or your milk and then set the pieces out to air-dry completely.
13. The milk is okay at room temperature for four to six hours. The Centers for Disease Control says it’s safe to refrigerate breast milk for up to five days. When stored in a chest or upright deep freezer, the milk keeps for six to 12 months.
